Hi

I’m Preeti, a  practising psychologist

My journey into psychology didn’t begin in a classroom; it began at home. When a close family member was diagnosed with a serious mental illness, and that pulled me into the world of psychiatrists, psychologists, and the emotional chaos that families go through during such times.

A family friend who was a psychiatrist helped me understand what psychiatric illness really is, gave me books to read, and started me on a path I hadn’t expected. As I attended therapy myself and learned more, something shifted. What started as survival gradually turned into interest. And after my divorce, that interest became purpose.

Therapy had helped me navigate my own trauma and rebuild my life, and I kept thinking: If I had received the right guidance earlier, my daughter and I would have suffered far less. That thought pushed me to pursue a master’s in psychology and several advanced certifications. I completed my post-graduation in 2020 and have been practising as a psychologist and psychotherapist for the past five years.

Along the way, my curiosity expanded beyond psychology into philosophy. I resonated with the simple truth which Buddha rightly said: “Life is suffering“. We cannot escape challenges, health issues, relationship struggles, work stress, or loss. What we can do is build the skills to face them. Whether it was COVID, personal crises, or everyday conflicts, I saw again and again that the right mindset and emotional tools make all the difference. I work primarily with adults and teenagers. One pattern I see constantly is how distorted our ideas of love and relationships have become. Movies and books romanticise love to the point that it no longer resembles reality.

I believe we should be empowered with certain skillsets at a very early stage our lives…. before two people decide to get married, before career training

My work focuses on helping people understand themselves better, navigate relationships more realistically, and build the emotional strength required to handle life’s inevitable challenges.
